The donation by Françoise Marquet-Zao of Zao Wou-Ki’s works and collection of Chinese art to the Musee Cernuschi is symbolic : the Musee Cernuschi has been the first French museum to present Zao Wou-Ki’s works in 1946, even before the arrival of the artist in France ; it was the decision of its curator Vadime Elisseeff.

The donation includes ancient bronzes from the Shang to the Qing dynasties, two jade objects and two Chinese ceramics. It evokes the strong links existing between Zao Wou-Ki and the art of his country of origin.

It is completed by twelve works on paper by Zao Wou-Ki from the 1940’s, contemporaneous of the exhibition organized by Vadime Elisseeff, together with six India inks from 1970 to 2005. Five original ceramics by the artist also enrich the collections of the Musee.
