Françoise Marquet-Zao donates the collection constituted by her husband, Zao Wou-Ki who gathered 91 art works by 58 artists. Built by the artist during his whole life, this collection, which has never been exhibited in its entirety before, is primarily a celebration of friendship. Most of the works have been exchanged or received as gifts.

The whole collection is presented in the exhibition organized by the Musée de l’Hospice Saint-Roch in Issoudun from June to December 2016. Some works by Zao Wou-Ki are also presented at this occasion. A selection of some thirty paintings by the artist are part of this exhibition to show his work through a choice of rarely seen paintings.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue edited by Flammarion enriched with many essays, detailed notices for the works and an important unpublished before iconographic ensemble relating Zao Wou-Ki’s relationship with his friends painters.
