Publication of Volume 3 of the Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings by Zao Wou-Ki (1975-2008) by Françoise Marquet-Zao and Yann Hendgen
The Zao Wou-Ki Foundation is proud and delighted to announce the publication by Flammarion of the third volume of the Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings by Zao Wou-Ki, listing works made between 1975 and 2009, including several new pieces. This volume follows on from Volumes 1 and 2, devoted respectively to paintings from 1935 to 1958 and from 1959 to 1974.
This catalog is the result of several years of work based on the artist’s archives and closes the work of the Fondation Zao Wou-Ki dedicated to publishing a catalog raisonné of the artist’s paintings. The titles chosen by Zao Wou-Ki have been restituted and the dates of the works have been verified and, in some cases, modified.
A valuable working tool for specialists, this book can also be an object of enjoyment and knowledge resource for a wider audience.
Texts by several contributors, museum curators and art historians from outside the Foundation offer diverse perspectives on his work as a painter.
Volume 3 of the catalogue raisonné features a preface by Erik Verhagen, art historian and co-curator of the major exhibition held in 2018 at the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris. The book features more than 600 reproductions of the artist’s works and numerous texts by Yann Hendgen, Françoise Marquet, Dominique de Villepin, Erik Verhagen, Fabrice Hergott, Gilles Chazal, Éric Lefebvre, Philippe Dagen, Jean-Paul Desroches, Bruno Dubois, Melissa Walt, Pascal Dethurens, Florence Delay, and Jean-Michel Meurice.
