Publication of Volume 2 of the Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings by Zao Wou-Ki (1959-1974) by Françoise Marquet-Zao and Yann Hendgen
The Zao Wou-Ki Foundation is proud and delighted to announce the publication by Flammarion of the second volume of the Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings by Zao Wou-Ki, listing works made between 1959 and 1974, including several new pieces.
The catalogue represents the fruit of several years of work on the artist’s archives. The artist’s original titles have been restituted and dates of works have been checked and often updated.
For the first time, it is now possible to follow his work, sometimes day by day, and to have a real follow-up of the creation and history of his works.
A real working tool for specialists, the book is also an object of enjoyment and an information resource for a wider audience.
Texts by several contributors, museum curators and art historians from outside the Foundation offer diverse perspectives on his work as a painter.
The volume 2 of the Catalogue Raisonné comes with a new text by Ankeney Weitz, Professor of Art in East Asian Studies at the Colby College, Waterville (ME) and co-curator of the big exhibition there in 2019-2017. This text provides a fresh and well-documented vision this period of intense creation and great personal changes.
Volume 3 (1975-2008), now in preparation, will be published around 2024, also by Flammarion.
